Responsibilities
Support the Infection Control Senior Manager in planning, implementing, and monitoring hospital-wide infection control programs. This includes training staff, performing audits, conducting surveillance, and liaising with internal departments and external agencies to ensure best practices in infection prevention.
The Infection Control Nurse shall assist the Infection Control Senior Manager in:
- Planning and implementing infection control programs pertaining to precautions, surveillance, reporting, and investigations.
- Planning and conducting hospital-wide infection control audits to improve processes.
- Planning and delivering orientation and in-service programs to relevant staff on infection control matters.
- Performing daily surveillance in all clinical areas to identify infection control cases and monitor practices.
- Initiating protocols and taking relevant actions to enhance infection control within the hospital.
- Advising and proposing necessary actions or staff health programs related to infection control to relevant internal and external parties.
- Following up on infection control issues to ensure proper resolution.
- Assisting the Head of Department on infection control matters when required.
- Participating actively as a member of the Infection Control Nursing Committee and Sub-Committee.
- Acting as a resource person for infection control-related matters.
- Liaising closely with the Infection Control Senior Manager and Sub-Committee Chairperson.
- Participating actively in departmental and hospital-wide goals and objectives.
- Maintaining all relevant records in an orderly and accessible manner.
- Ensuring records are updated and confidentiality is maintained where appropriate.
- Participating in other hospital committees when required.
- Being responsible for departmental and hospital quality indicators.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the superior.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Well-organized and able to work independently
- Computer literate
- Analytical and research experience is an added advantage
- Applicants with a Post Basic Certificate in Infection Control and who have experience in Infection Control programs will have an added advantage.
