Job Summary:
As a Commis Pastry you will assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. Under the guidance of the Pastry Chef, you will learn and follow standard recipes and techniques while maintaining high hygiene and safety standards. This role is ideal for someone passionate about pastry arts and eager to grow in a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing a variety of baked goods, desserts, and pastries including cakes, tarts, bread, and mousses.
- Follow standard recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency and quality.
- Support the Pastry Chef and team in daily kitchen operations and mise en place.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry section in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ensure proper storage of all ingredients and finished products.
- Assist in monitoring stock levels and report shortages to the Pastry Chef.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and other departments to ensure timely service.
- Participate in training and development sessions to enhance pastry knowledge and skills.
- Uphold the hotel’s quality and presentation standards at all times.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts / Pastry or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of pastry techniques and kitchen equipment.
- Passion for baking and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a team environment.
- Good personal hygiene and grooming standards.
- Flexible with working hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Previous internship or work experience in a pastry kitchen is an advantage.
