Job Summary
COBOL Developer to support, maintain, and enhance legacy mainframe applications. Have strong experience in COBOL programming, mainframe environments, and batch/online processing.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL programs on mainframe systems.
- Analyze existing programs to identify enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Perform batch job scheduling, execution, and monitoring.
- Support integration with external systems and databases.
- Ensure system stability, performance, and security through effective coding and testing practices.
- Provide production support, including troubleshooting and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Prepare documentation and participate in code reviews.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience with COBOL (COBOL, COBOL II), JCL, VSAM, and DB2 or other mainframe databases.
- Knowledge of batch and online processing.
- Familiarity with change management tools and job schedulers (e.g. Control-M).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
