Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business growth by developing and implementing strategic plans to acquire new clients, expand into new markets, and increase revenue. This role requires a strong understanding of market trends, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a proven track record of success in sales and business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve and exceed company and individual sales targets.
- Design and implement a strategic business plan that expands the company's customer base and ensures it has a strong market presence.
- Identify and analyze new market opportunities, industry trends, and the competitive landscape, including new products and competitor status.
- Continually assess current business distribution channels, develop, and evaluate their performance and manage conflict to ensure alignment with territory plans.
- Develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies, and programs to capture key clientele segments.
- Client Acquisition:
- Identify and qualify new business leads through various channels (e.g., networking, cold calling, industry events, and digital outreach).
- Manage incoming calls and generate leads by calling prospective customers.
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with prospective clients and partners to understand their evolving needs.
- Conduct compelling sales presentations and product demonstrations.
- Sell to existing and potential direct accounts as well as provide sales support to distribution partners to facilitate and add value to the selling process.
- Negotiate and close business deals for the company, ensuring all terms are mutually beneficial.
- Team Leadership & Management:
- Manage, develop, coach, control and motivate the sales force to develop their skill set and ensure that a high professional standard is achieved and monthly sales targets and KPI (Key Performance Indicators) targets are met.
- Own recruiting, objective setting, coaching, and performance monitoring of sales representatives.
- Plan to ensure the achievement of divisional and personal targets, aligning with company sales policies and strategies.
- Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and identify up-selling or cross-selling opportunities.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, meeting with them to discuss their evolving needs and to assess the quality of the company's relationship.
- Build sustainable relationships and trust with customer accounts through open and interactive communication.
- Handle customer complaints, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within time limits; follow up to ensure resolution.
- Identify and assess customers' needs to achieve satisfaction.
- Reporting & Administration:
- Present sales, revenue, and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports.
- Produce reports, presentations, and briefs.
- Maintain data relative to partners, accounts, and activities and document customer interactions.
- Keep records of customer interactions, process customer accounts, and file documents.
- Provide accurate, valid, and complete information by using the right methods and tools.
- Follow communication procedures, guidelines, and policies.
- Professional Development:
- Continually develop knowledge of the business climate, applications, and competition for a defined geography and accounts.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
- Experience: Proven track record of 5+ years in a business development, sales, or a similar role. Experience managing a sales team is highly desirable.
